Here is the tentative schedule for PFE I (Practical Field Education) in 2024. It is for students in English program, but K-MDiv students who can understand English may join in the course. 

Schedules are subject to change according to the condition of host schools.

 

PFE 1 is offered as a modular course and the modular course registration period is from May 7th to 10th. 

 

 

June 17 (Mon): Entrance Interview/Orientation Class (Dual)

                     1:30pm-5:30pm (@ LH 302 & Zoom Meeting)  

 

  • Each student will be provided with appropriate references, information, templates, and materials necessary to succeed in the information gathering from people in schools.  
  • Each student will review a sample interview guide (prepared by the instructor) and make our own interview questions.
  • Each student will review publicly available documents before the field works. 
  • Each student will be provided with “field notes” guidelines. Each student will be giv-en an overview of the entire class.   
  • Meeting with your classmates who experienced HIS 

 

June 18 (Tue): Interview and Conversation with people from Suwon Central Christian Academy/

                    Meeting with students of SCCA Christian Academy 

                    8:30am -- 4:00pm 

 

Teacher candidates are expected to be involved in the following areas:

  • Observation of classroom teaching, classroom activities, educational atmosphere, learning environment, student-teacher relationship, student population’s composition, infra facility of a designated host school.
  • Conducting interviews with administrative staff and teachers.
  • Gathering hard-copy materials such as brochure, pamphlet, magazine, and poster 
  • Every candidate needs to maintain a record of one’s observation and interview (one might take note but does need to tape): “Field Notes” involved.  
  • Students will be attentive to kinds of educational practices, classroom management and supports used in the classroom, accommodations in contents and curricula in Christian schools, educational philosophy of the schools, various administrative issues in educational ministries at Christian schools and how to handle the issues.

 

June 19 (Wed): Day of traveling to Pohang  

  • Students will leave for Pohang @ 1:00pm 
  • Students are expected to arrive @ Galaxy Hotel (Pohang) around 6:00 pm.
  • Students will share some feedbacks with one another on their experiences and learn-ing from SCCA. 

 

June 20 (Thurs): Interview and Conversation with people from Handong Global (International) School /

                       Meeting with students of HIS 

                       8:00am - 5:00pm (subject to change according to the condition of host school)

 

Teacher candidates are expected to be involved in the following areas:

  • Observation of classroom teaching, classroom activities, educational atmosphere, learning environment, student-teacher relationship, student population’s composition, infra facility of a designated host school (Not actual but virtual this time).
  • Conducting interviews with administrative staff and teachers.
  • Gathering hard-copy materials such as brochure, pamphlet, magazine, and poster (This time, you are to visit TTCEM if you want to take a look at those. Otherwise, you will gather online materials)   
  • Every candidate needs to maintain a record of one’s observation and interview (one might take note but does need to tape): “Field Notes” involved.  
  • Students will be attentive to kinds of educational practices, classroom management and supports used in the classroom, accommodations in contents and curricula in Christian schools, educational philosophy of the schools, various administrative issues in educational ministries at Christian schools and how to handle the issues.

 

June 21 (Fri): Reflection and Follow-up Class/Exit Interview 

                   8:00am -11:45am

  • Students will share some feedbacks with one another on their experiences and learn-ing from SCCA & HIS. 
  • Evaluation of SCCA & HIS’s strengths and weaknesses
