“Change & Growth”
?
From February
21 st -23 rd , our students at Torch kicked off 2008 with our Spring
Retreat entitled ""Change & Growth."" A total of 109 students travelled
to Jesus Town in KangHwa Island. Of the 109 students, 100 were new
students: 60 from the English program and 40 from the Korean program.
?
A three-hour ride took them to
Jesus Town and the students started the day by changing out of their
traveling clothes. After orientation, they gathered into small groups
to get to know each other. The rest of the schedule was arranged by
the student council. All the students enjoyed a great time of
fellowship and friendship, worshiping God, praying for each other,
eating together and playing games.

Our guest speaker was Professor
Steve Cha who gave a sermon on 'Living Sacrifice.' He encouraged
students to give themselves as a living sacrifice for the sake of
having an intimate relationship with God. He also pointed out the
danger of being a ‘minister without intimacy with God.' During the 2
nd evening worship, another guest speaker Rev. David Hwang preached
on 'The Life hungry for the Holy Spirit.' Finally, Rev. Kang-Ho Gil
touched students with his inspiring message on “Change and
Growth. ”
?
Professor Eun Young Choi gave a
special lecture on the major attributes of leadership and how it
affects Crisis Management in the church. After the lecture, students
gathered in small groups for the further discussion on proper
leadership and crisis management.

Our academic
dean, Professor Jungsook Lee, presented the history of TTGST to the
new students and also shared Torch's vision for a better future and
plans for the 10th anniversary celebration.
The
retreat was a great time for all TTGST members. It truly was a time
refreshing and rebuilding?for “Change and Growth.”
