Dr. Jeongmo Yoo joined Torch Trinity as a full-time faculty member in 2016. After graduating from Kyunghee University (Seoul, Korea) with a bachelor of arts in English literature and language, and Korea Baptist Theological University (Daejeon, Korea) with a master of divinity, he went to the United States, where he studied church history/historical theology at Calvin Theological Seminary (Grand Rapids, MI, USA). He received both ThM and PhD degrees from Calvin Theological Seminary under the supervision of Dr. Richard A. Muller. Afterwards, Dr. Yoo worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at Andrew Fuller Center at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Louisville, KY, USA). Before coming to Torch Trinity, he worked as a research fellow in the Institute for Baptist Theology at Korea Baptist Theological University and taught church history classes at diverse schools. Dr. Yoo’s primary research area is modern church history. In particular, his research interests are in Puritanism, Reformed orthodoxy, Pietism, revival movements, Korean church history, and Asian church history. Dr. Yoo’s scholarly writings include John Edwards (1637-1716) on Human Free Choice and Divine Necessity: The Debate on the Relation between Divine Necessity and Human Freedom in Late Seventeenth-Century and Early Eighteenth-Century England (Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht, 2013). As an ordained pastor, Dr. Yoo has also worked in various ministerial settings. He is married with two children.
