Overview - Christian Counseling
The PhD in Christian Counseling is a 3-year program which aims to integrate various disciplines including Biblically-based theology, psychology, and education in order to produce scholars and professional counselors who are able to create and develop Christian Counseling theories.
 
Class Hour

Korean Program: Monday through Thursday, daytime classes

   The PhD in CC offers Korean program only and does not offer English program.

 
Graduation Requirements

Pass 66 credits.
Obtain a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0. 
Pass the comprehensive exam.
Submit a dissertation and pass the oral defense.
Complete 2 semesters of Internship and Internship Supervision.
Complete the program within a maximum 7 years (from 2021).

 
Academic Information

Academic load: Average 11 credits per semester (Up to 12 credits can be taken)
After a PhD student completes the curriculum, he/she must pay a research fee each semester to write a dissertation.
PhD CC students who have admitted without a theology related master’s degree (MDiv/MTS) must take 8 theology courses (20 credits) during their first year.


Overview - Theology
The PhD in Theology is a 3-year program primarily designed to produce quality instructors, who are able to research, teach, and administrate in institutions of higher education, especially in missional settings. The program will prepare graduates to teach multiple disciplines, to develop and run theological Bible colleges and seminaries, and to lead research and publication in an area of specialization. The Theology Area is divided into 4 sub-areas which are Biblical Studies, Historical/Theological Studies, Intercultural Studies, and Educational Studies.
 
Class Hour

English Program: Monday through Friday, daytime classes, and modular classes during summer/winter session.

Graduation Requirements

Pass 23 credits and 5 units of Guided Research.
Obtain a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.
Pass the comprehensive exam.
Submit a dissertation and pass the oral defense.
Complete the program within a maximum 5 years (after 2021).

PhD students who are not TTGU MDiv graduates should audit the MDiv GI1101 Theological Research and Writing class during their first semester.
